Illustration Friday - Expired

Well, I'm late with this weeks Illustration Friday. You could say... time expired. Hardy har har.
Anyways, this is what I, like most people, came up with.

Thanks for stopping by!

Ride for Cancer Postcard

Hey all,

I was tasked with producing a postcard that could be used in a local "Ride For Cancer" event later in the year. This is what I finally came up with, after a few failed and more risque attempts. I am still happy with it, overall.

After consulting my teacher, Leif Peng, we decided it should be tied in more with the event. Thus, I added bicyclist suits to the people and added the silhouette of a bike in the background. After "completing" it, I still felt it lacked something to tie it in with cancer, so i re-added the ribbons back into it. I am supplying both versions, with and without ribbons, for review. Anyways, on with the show!

Here's the ribbonless version.

And here's my preference, the ribboned version.

Thanks for your time.
Let me know what you think!

Business Postcard

Hey everyone/

This is my business postcard. The back is just a grayscale version of a previous artwork I did. The front was done yesterday after seeing a commercial for God of War 3 on the TV. How I love those games..

Anyways, hope you like it!

Illustration Friday: Subterranean

Here is my Illustration Friday for Subterranean. When thinking of subterranean, I think of monsters and such, living underground. Remembering a movie about stuff quite like that, Descent, brought about this picture. If you haven't seen it, it's not a bad watch actually.

For this image, I decided that I wanted the creature to be seen as if a flashlight were being directed on them.

It took about two hours to do.

Comments welcome!

Storyboard frames w/ Reference

Hey all,

These are three frames from my storyboard that I improved upon using photo reference on the poses (I hope I'm not the only one who feels silly posing for the camera). I chose these because they have movement in them, while not being very hard to shoot on camera (running, jumping out the window, flying...). It took about four hours in photoshop, my longest time yet since my wrist problems.

Comments more than welcome!

Illustration Friday: Brave

Hey everyone.

This is the first thing I've done since my wrist was diagnosed. I'm still wearing the brace alot, but periodically take it off, and this was one exception. It had to be done fairly quick as I was starting to hurt again, but it's very surprising just how much better it feels now than a week ago.

Anyways, this sketch is for Illustration Friday's "Brave".

Originally, I was intending to do it based on an Atlanta Braves fan, but after some info/advice from some friends, I used the Boston Red Sox. I did not know this, but the Yankees and Red Sox have a huge rivalry. I felt that because of this rivalry, that it would be very brave for a young kid to walk into Yankee Stadium in his Red Sox outfit.

This was done in Photoshop and took about two hours to complete.

Let me know what you think!

Bad News

Hey all,

There have been no updates recently and no projects worked on. I had been having intense pain in my left wrist for a couple weeks now and lately it's gotten so bad that I can't even use a pencil or type on the keyboard. It sure does suck using your off-hand to type alone.

Apparently, I have a massive case of tendonitis.

As of right now, I'm taking medication and using a splinted tensor bandage to try and heal my hand. I can't tell if it's working or not, as I'm up at all hours of the night feeling like my hand is on fire instead of sleeping.

I honestly don't know when I can update next. For the time being, I'm just hoping that I don't have to do physiotherapy or get surgery.

Until then, take care!
